When will it be safe to go out at night?
Today's mosquito bite count (from 20 minutes spent outside on Saturday evening, where I did not actually SEE any mosquitoes) - 74. My left leg and foot are swollen so much I cannot put shoes on. What the hell! I was actually wearing long pants and shoes too. If they were not mosquitoes whatever it was bit through my clothes. I cannot wait for winter.

Oh....I don't miss the Texas Mesqueetos! They will suck you dry! We are very luck here although we do have some nasty gnats (pronounced GAnats) here that will drink your blood! Little buggers!

I promise, you would NOT say that if you lived in Ontario, Canada! :-P
Mind you, mosquitoes HAVE been bad this year, bigger and in greater quantity than usual. Does anyone remember using calamine (spelling?) lotion for bug bites, when a child?
You could slather yourself in OFF every day, head to toe. 'Course, then you'll grow a second head or third arm or something, but you won't get chewed up every time you even think of going outside...
Mom's a mosquito magnet too. She could hire out at events to keep the guests from getting bites. She covers herself when she's outside for a period of time, but they catch her when she runs in or out of the house.

Ours a pretty bad here too. I put Cutter Yard spray down on our grass, and it SEEMS to have helped. Haven't had any bites until I went to the softball field tonight. It's worth a try right?

Kea - I live in Rochester, NY - pretty much the same difference from Ontario Canada - i live off Lake Ontario where it never freezes over and it snows pretty much every day. and there are NO mosquitoes from September until May
Oooh, we have had a wet summer and we have mosquitoes and biting flies. Avon's Skin So Soft is supposed to be a good repellent, and smells better, too.
Do you use a bug spray? Nasty little buggers!
Chez Cat has the best solution, Avon's Skin So Soft.
It's heartily "endorsed" by the military, and has been particularly effective against all the plentiful biting bugs in Iraq and Afghanistan, and here at home.
And, of course, you'll smell good - the meezers and Billy will be very attracted.
